Description
Adventum Tech is a deep-tech company specializing in smart structural health monitoring (SHM) and real-time wireless IoT systems for construction and infrastructure. Our solutions — including advanced vibration, load, settlement, tilt, and environmental sensors — enable smarter, safer, and more sustainable infrastructure management worldwide.
We are growing rapidly across North America, the Baltics, and the EU, and are looking for a proactive, hands-on, and detail-oriented Hardware Engineer to support sensor assembly, prototyping, testing, and R&D activities for next-generation monitoring systems.
Requirements
The Hardware Engineer: Sensor Assembly & R&D will be responsible for assembling, testing, improving, and supporting the development of IoT-based sensor systems used in structural health and environmental monitoring.
This role involves practical hardware work, sensor assembly, electronics integration, mechanical and enclosure preparation, testing, calibration support, and participation in R&D projects to improve Adventum Tech’s sensor reliability, manufacturability, and field performance.
Duties
Key Responsibilities
1. Sensor Assembly & Hardware Preparation
Assemble IoT sensor devices, sensor modules, wiring harnesses, connectors, enclosures, and related hardware components.
Prepare and integrate load, vibration, tilt, temperature, humidity, settlement, and environmental monitoring sensors.
Perform soldering, cable preparation, connector installation, sealing, labeling, and final hardware assembly.
Ensure assembled devices meet internal quality, durability, and field-readiness requirements.
Maintain clear assembly documentation, checklists, and production notes.
2. Electronics Integration & Testing
Support integration of PCBs, microcontrollers, batteries, antennas, data loggers, and wireless communication modules.
Conduct functional testing of assembled sensor devices before deployment.
Identify hardware faults, wiring issues, signal instability, power problems, and assembly defects.
Support sensor calibration, signal verification, and measurement accuracy checks.
Work with engineering teams to troubleshoot and improve device performance.
3. R&D and Prototype Development
Participate in the development of new sensor prototypes and improved hardware designs.
Support testing of new sensor technologies, including strain gauges, MEMS sensors, accelerometers, piezoelectric sensors, load cells, and environmental sensing modules.
Assist in developing improved mounting methods, enclosures, mechanical fixtures, and field installation solutions.
Research and test materials, adhesives, sealing methods, power solutions, and hardware configurations for harsh construction and infrastructure environments.
Contribute practical feedback to improve manufacturability, assembly efficiency, and long-term field reliability.
4. Quality Control & Documentation
Perform incoming and outgoing quality checks for sensors, components, and assembled devices.
Document assembly procedures, test results, hardware issues, and improvement recommendations.
Maintain organized records of prototypes, test units, production batches, and deployed hardware.
Support standard operating procedures for assembly, testing, calibration, and packaging.
Help ensure consistency between prototype development and repeatable production assembly.
5. Field Support & Deployment Preparation
Prepare hardware kits for construction sites, infrastructure projects, and customer deployments.
Support field installation preparation, including mounting accessories, cables, power systems, and protective enclosures.
Assist with diagnostics and repair of returned or field-used devices.
Collaborate with IoT, software, and field engineering teams to ensure smooth deployment and reliable data collection.
