Paid English teaching internship

It Sounds Fun is a language academy in Jerez de la Frontera, Cádiz, Andalucia, with over 15 years of experience in the sector. 

We have students as young as 3 years old, up to older teenagers, and accompany them on their English learning journey.

We offer dynamic, participative classes for all ages, and also prepare students for official Cambridge exams. We also use the Jolly Phonics method of language learning with our younger students.

We have a friendly, fun and enthousiastic team of teachers and support staff, with a focus on training, support and collaboration. We have 10 bright and spacious classrooms with the latest technology and all the resources you need to deliver quality classes.

Our role is to inspire our students to assist them in reaching their goals with the English language by providing dynamic classes and individualized monitoring at all stages of their journey.

We have students of all ages from the local area,  and offer great opportunities for staff to learn and develop in many different areas of teaching.

We are looking for enthousiastic interns who have some experience of working with younger children (however experience is not obligatory). A desire to learn how to manage classrooms of children and teenagers, and motivation to develop and grow as a teacher.

An advanced (min C1) level of spoken and written English is required.

We provide training and mentoring throughout the internship, you will be supported and guided by our experienced coordinators. We have new teaching interns every academic year, and create a fun and friendly environment for you to make the most of your time in Jerez.

You need to be available for the full 9 month period, we cannot offer shorter internships.
You need to have your university sign a learning agreement with us. An Erasmus+ grant is not required.
A minimum C1 level in English is required. We do not require a certificate as this is tested during the interview. We are looking for interns who have an advanced level of written English, as well as fluent spoken English.
Some experience of working with children is preferred, but is not an obligation. The desire to work with children and teenagers in a classroom setting is also very important.
We are looking for teachers who are reliable, adaptable and friendly, and who work well in a team. 
We cannot accept applicants who are not EU citizens, or do not have long term residence in the European Union.

You will:

Teach English lessons with young children, teenagers and possibly adult students.
Help with course and class planning outside the classroom.
Learn about Jolly Phonics and how to use it with younger learners.
Help create and produce classroom resources such as flashcards, posters etc
Contribute to our overall assessment of the students by giving feedback and writing reports twice a year.
Observe classes to gain insight into other techniques, and to improve your skills.
Learn how to impart the content of the classes in a fun and dynamic way, which keeps the students engaged and participating.
Improve your knowledge of English grammar and phonetics, and how to best help students reach their goals in speaking, reading, writing and listening.
Prepare older students for official Cambridge exams, and you'll receive training on those exams and how to teach the techniques for each part.
Learn about games, activities and pair work to keep your students having fun while they're learning.
You'll be monitored and observed frequently by our teacher coordinators, who will give you help and support throughout your internship.
 

Maximum 30 hours per week including classes, preparation, correcting and training. You may also be given some nursery classes at a local school (included in the 30 hours).
