Junior Cybersecurity Engineer (remote & hybrid)

Join a remote cybersecurity internship supporting a Finnish space-sector satellite company.

You will collaborate directly with a Cybersecurity Architect to strengthen mission-critical systems through hands-on work in incident monitoring, phishing simulations, honeypot development, and SIEM optimization.

Strong interest in cybersecurity and the space industry.

Basic understanding of security operations frameworks (Cyber Kill Chain, MITRE ATT&CK, APT lifecycle).

Familiarity with networking, operating systems, and security tools (IDS/IPS, firewalls, SIEMs).

Basic scripting or automation experience (e.g., Python, PowerShell, or Bash).

Good analytical and communication skills — ability to write clearly and explain findings.

Fluent in English.

Curious, reliable, and proactive mindset with the ability to work independently in a remote environment.

Assist in the analysis and triage of security alerts to identify potential threats and anomalies.

Develop and maintain internal honeypots to detect malicious activity and collect threat intelligence.

Design and execute phishing awareness campaigns for internal training and resilience testing.

Contribute to SIEM use case development, log parsing, correlation rules, and dashboard improvement.

Support threat hunting activities to identify indicators of compromise or advanced persistent threats.

Draft concise incident summaries, technical reports, and recommendations for improving security posture.

Participate in the continuous improvement of detection baselines, automation, and investigation playbooks.

This internship is unpaid at the outset; however, it provides valuable exposure to cybersecurity in the European space industry, direct mentorship from a practicing Cybersecurity Architect, and the opportunity to contribute to real-world security operations and research.

The preferred internship duration is 1–3 months, ideally as part of a school or university program.

A small end-of-internship stipend may be granted based on the value and impact of your contributions.

Exceptional interns may also be invited for an onsite visit in Finland or considered for future paid positions and extended collaboration opportunities.
