What You Need to Know About the End of Cayman Islands' COVID-19 Travel Ban?

Following the lifting of all COVID-19-related travel restrictions this week, the Cayman Islands will officially welcome tourists throughout this epidemic.

As of August 24, 2018, the Cayman Islands Department of Tourism no phrazle longer requires visitors to provide evidence of COVID-19 immunization, a negative test result, a travel declaration form, or a travel request through Travel Cayman. Mask laws are being repealed on all of the islands, however individual establishments are free to establish their own policies.

New regulations are part of a "science-based, people-first approach to the epidemic," Premier Wayne Panton said at a press conference on Friday.

"This comes after two and a half years of quarantines because to COVID-19...

We have reached a point of confidence where we can remove all but the most essential public health safeguards," Among Cayman Islanders aged 5 and above, the government reports that 92% have gotten at least two doses of the COVID-19 vaccination and 36% have received at least three doses. According to Panton, the high vaccination rate is a major reason why public health regulations have been loosened.

Nearly two months after the Cayman Islands did away with pre- and post-travel testing regulations for vaccinated tourists, they have made the decision to lift travel restrictions. However, until recently, the islands only allowed unvaccinated guests who were either under the age of 12 or who owned property or a company on the islands.

There is a current requirement that all tourists register for a travel certificate and purchase COVID-19 travel and medical insurance several days before arrival. Passengers on a cruise are not required to fill out a travel application. The Cayman Islands are now in line with other Caribbean countries who have entirely abandoned regulations put in place during the epidemic, including as Grenada, Aruba, and Bonaire. Some nations have done away with pre-arrival testing for vaccinated passengers, and they include the Bahamas and Saint Lucia.
